12月に入り、冬の気配が少しずつ濃くなってきました。
そんな中でも子どもたちは元気に保育園や学童クラブ、お稽古へ。今日も、ひとつひとつの挑戦を積み重ねています。
この度、Frontier Culture SchoolのEnglish Artにおいて、オンライン展覧会を実施させていただきます。
子どもたちが頑張って制作した秋らしい作品をぜひご覧ください！

作品について（講師より）
“This project’s goal was to create lifelike autumn trees in three dimensions.
The materials were simply a brown paper bag for the tree and red, orange and yellow construction paper for the leaves.
The results were surprisingly realistic, like little autumn bonsai trees.
Work Procedure
- From the top of the bag to roughly the middle, the bag was cut downwards in straight vertical lines, creating strips around 1.5 to 2cm thick. Next, the lower part of the bag was twisted in a rough spiral to create the trunk of the tree. This twisting causes the four corners of the bag’s base to curve upwards, but this was solved by pushing the corners down to re-flatten the base.
- The next step was to take any two strips at the top and twist them together to create a branch. Near the end of each branch each strip could be twisted alone, to create two smaller branches in a Y formation.
- The next step was to glue small leaves, which were cut out from colored paper, along the branches and some on the “ground” at the base of the tree.
And then the project was complete, and the students were very happy with their results.”

このプロジェクトの目標は、本物そっくりの秋の木々を立体的に作ることでした。
材料は、木には茶色の紙袋、葉には赤、オレンジ、黄色の画用紙だけでした。
出来上がりは驚くほどリアルで、まるで小さな秋の盆栽のようでした。
作業工程
① 袋の上部からほぼ中央にかけて、袋を下向きにまっすぐ垂直に切り込み、厚さ約1.5～2cmの細長い紙片を作ります。次に、袋の下部を大まかに螺旋状にねじって木の幹を作ります。このねじりによって袋の底の四隅が上向きに反り返ってしまいますが、角を押し下げて底を平らにすることで解決しました。
② 次のステップは、上部の細長い紙片を2枚取り、ねじって枝を作ります。枝の先端近くでは、それぞれの細長い紙片を個別にねじって、Y字型の2本の小さな枝を作ることもできます。
③次のステップは、色紙から切り取った小さな葉を枝に沿って、そして木の根元の「地面」にも貼り付けることです。
以上の工程でプロジェクトは完了し、生徒たちは成果にとても満足していました。
これからも生徒たちが楽しみながら作れる作品を制作していきたいと思います。

FGA校は小学生の作品をもう１つ掲載させていただきます。
作品（2つ目）について（講師より）
The children first cut out tree shapes from red, orange, and yellow paper, choosing any shape or number of trees they liked. They cut the ground from green paper and glued it to the bottom of a light blue sheet. Then they glued their trees above the ground, leaving space between them. Using dark brown pencils, they drew trunks from the ground up into the trees and added branching lines.The students were free to add any details they could think of, which included birds in the sky, and a park bench with a cat sitting next to it.”
日本語訳
子どもたちはまず、赤、オレンジ、黄色の紙から好きな形や本数の木を切り抜きました。
緑の紙から地面を切り抜き、水色のシートの底に貼り付けました。
次に、木と木の間に隙間を開けて、地面の上に貼り付けました。
濃い茶色の鉛筆を使って、地面から木へと幹を描き、枝の線を加えました。
空に鳥を描いたり、猫が座っている公園のベンチを描いたりと、子どもたちは思いつく限りの細かい部分を自由に描き加えました。
